Zina Bonita Gregory: Star Child
Do you remember being a child? how you were afraid of
the dark, monsters under the bed, or just plain frightened to
sleep alone? Zina Gregory invented the solution to the
psycological problems that plague our children. On
September 11, 2001, she finished her first children’s book of
short stories about a super hero character called Captain Z
Nose the Nightmare Terminator. The book of short stories
is the first of it’s kind to feature the events of 9/11/2001 in
children’s form. She then went on to produce the animated
movie.
Gregory was born on August 17th, 1963, in the Deep South
of Jackson Mississippi. She is the second eldest of five
children. Zina always had a passion for reading and writing.
Her dream was to be in the entertainment world in
whatever aspect she could merge into. She finally decided
to do what she does best, and that was to write. Zina’s
plans for the future is to produce her own animated movie.
With a positive mind, and love for children, she has invented
a unique character, and with her wonderful compassionate
personality as well, she has a very warm heart for children,
as well as six of her own. Three girls and three boys. Fed
up with the conditions of the world which causes majority of
our children's nightmares, she decided they needed
something that would help their mental state of mind and
that is to focus on their nightmares and problems sleeping.
Although Doctors have found out that children between the
ages of 3 and 12 are more likely to develop recurrent
nightmares, most of which are brought on by everyday
living and surroundings. She wanted to write books and
produce movies that would help make this transition from
childhood nightmares a lot easier to deal with. After all she
quotes “It’s psychological.”
Today she encourages young people to keep a positive
mind, and to use the nightly check list in her book to help
them sleep with ease.
